This Series won an Emmy Award for ‘Outstanding Individual Accomplishment – Informational Programming’ for Audrey Hepburn.
In this DVD Audrey Hepburn and mortal Michael York do a marvelous job of narrating the history of the different gardens and providing information about some of the plants and flowers that are grown there.
In fact, they touch upon a lot of other interesting subjects besides the garden they are visiting, like the important people who visited the particular place, and some titbits regarding those visits, and about the changes that the garden has undergone etc;
Hepburn visits altogether 17 gardens in the Dominican Republic, England, France, Holland, Italy, Japan, and the United States..

The video has been beautifully conceived and equally well executed. The two-sided disc contains footages of Audrey Hepburn visiting some of the world’s most beautiful gardens, plus eighty minutes of great music-only the tracks, and two great behind-the-scenes segments showing Hepburn at her charming best, interacting with the technicians , and even digging and giving a hand to an obviously pleased gardener..

I purchased this DVD just to watch Audrey Hepburn. I love watching her films and find her an extremely elegant and dignified personality. She had become superior with apiece passing year, developing an allround personality, never being pretentious ever, not while she was a star , nor now.She was a down to earth, warm and likeable person, and thats what makes this video so special- her sheer presence, the way she dresses so elegantly and the way she carries herself.

When i watched her amidst all those out of this world , Lovely gardens, i felt that the two matched perfectly, apiece complementing the other. She seemed to be the right mortal to have done this series with her keen eye for details and an obvious interest in gardening.

She chats with the gardeners, exchanging tips and providing some informations of her own experiences as a gardener. She is very natural about it with no airs what so ever. One can see the admiration and warmth she generates, as she interacts with various people crossways the world, as she visits these gardens.

A great deal of historical information on gardening is provided on this video, and we get to see different types of gardens videlicet the Asian Zen gardens, which is totally marvellous with its water body and rockery, Some lovely traditional Flower gardens like the English Rose Garden , and Formal or planned gardens like the Tulip Gardens in Holland.

The Formal Rose Gardens that she visits are breathtakingly beautiful.Hepburn keeps quoting a few lines of her favorite poems on several occassions making the proceedings even more interesting.
The Dutch Gardens shown were truly magnificent , the visuals incredible to state the least- totally marvelous photography.

Actor Michael York has done an excellent job with his narration. He is an integral part of this video complementing Hepburn’s visits and adding narrations ,tips and comments of his own
Even if you are not a fan of Audrey Hepburn , video is worth watching , as this a well prefabricated DVD and it is a chance to see all those wonderful gardens at one go.
Audrey Hepburn quoting gardener Anne Leighton “A garden, to be a garden, must represent a different world, however small, from the real world….Gardening offers man a chance to regulate at least one aspect of his life–to control his environment and show himself as he wishes to be.”

Stone Selex chosen as official Canadian Distributor for Canyon Stone’s manufactured stone veneer. Jerry Lebiedzinski, President of Stone Selex Inc. is pleased to announce that Stone Selex has signed an exclusive distributor agreement with Canyon Stone of Kansas, USA. The agreement allows Stone Selex rights to sell Canyon Stone’s manufactured stone veneer in Ontario, Quebec, and the Maritimes.

“We’re very chesty of our association with Canyon Stone and the opportunity it gives us to share such a wide selection of calibre artificial stone with the Canadian marketplace,” states Mister Lebiedzinski. “This agreement further demonstrates the Stone Selex commitment to providing our customers with the ideal products for the construction and renovation industry.”

Mister Lebiedzinski offers these observations on the advantages of manufactured stone over natural stone, particularly in fireplace construction where the product’s lighter weight eliminates the need for structural reinforcing:

Manufactured stone perfectly matches the appearance of natural stone. Whether it’s the rough-hewn look of fieldstone or the gentle contours of streamstone, calibre manufactured stone, often referred to as artificial stone or faux stone, so perfectly emulates the look and feel of natural stone it can fool even experienced masons. This remarkable accomplishment comes from using a formulation of Portland cement, natural aggregates, and carefully selected pigments in meticulously detailed molds modeled after natural stone. The result is a completed product virtually indistinguishable from the original.

Manufactured stone is light weight. Manufactured stone typically weighs much less than natural stone, about two-thirds the weight of natural stone veneer and less than a quarter the weight of full-block natural stone. This provides significant savings in shipping and fag costs, as well as reducing the need for pricey structural reinforcing.

Manufactured stone is easy to install. Thanks to its light weight and convenient sizes and shapes, with a tiny planning and attention to detail even weekend handymen can successfully install artificial stone veneer. All that’s required is following the vendor’s easy instructions and perceptive basic precautions. Other than perhaps a circular saw with a masonry blade for slicing stones to size, there’s no need for many of the heavy-duty power tools often required when working with natural stone. Standard hand masonry tools will do.

Manufactured stone can be installed on virtually any wall. Since its light weight eliminates the need for special footings and foundations, and since it can be applied to any structurally sound surround surface, artificial stone veneer is perfect for fireplaces. You can now build a gas or even a wood-burning fireplace anywhere you can place a chimney, such as against an interior surround or even in the center of a room.

Manufactured stone is durable and maintenance-free. Reputable manufacturers of artificial stone wage a 50 year warranty on their product, but that’s not the limit of the stone’s life-expectancy. Properly applied, calibre manufactured stone can be expected to last much longer, even on external walls subject to the elements. Inside a home, on a fireplace for example, manufactured stone veneer should wage service for many generations.

Manufactured Stone is innocuous for fireplaces. Obviously, when constructing a wood or gas-burning fireplace, flammability of the building materials is a concern. By its very nature, manufactured stone is non-combustible. It contributes zero fuel and produces no smoke.

Manufactured stone offers wide variety. Available in dozens of different styles, textures, and colors, artificial stone veneer can emulate any natural stone. This gives you broad flexibility in designing a fireplace that perfectly complements your home and lifestyle, whether traditional or contemporary.

Manufactured Stone is less costly than natural stone. Using manufactured stone veneer saves you money in three ways.

First, the product itself costs less than natural stone.

Second, because artificial stone veneer weighs so much less than natural stone, the cost to ship the stone to your job site — which can be prohibitive for natural stone — is much less.

Third, fag costs are usually lower, since manufactured stone is lighter and easier to work with. Masons can install the product faster, saving both time and money.
