Soil Test Kits

Depending on your soil condition possibly rental tools.

Step1

Soil Test Kit The first step to take would be to evaluate your soil condition by taking soil samples. Before you make any attempt on your lawn you want to know exactly what is going on with it. For example some people will purchase fertilizers and other applications thinking that is sufficient, however if your soil is too acidic it will not absorb the nutrients from the fertilizers causing more harm to your lawn along with expense. First diagnose your soil using a soil test kit.

Step2

Due to different elements that might add several factors to the condition of your soil(such as trees, water, wind, sun, etc.)you want to take a soil sample in a depth of 6 inches into your soil from the top surface from several locations all around your lawn. Take tube or a piece of pipe long enough to cover the six inches depth insert it in soil to get a sample of the soil. You want around 10-15 samples of soil. Your goal is to end up with around 2 cups of soil. Place soil into a non metal container huge enough to mix all of your samples up together. Avoid taking samples from an area that had newly construction done to it. Using your Soil Test Kit(which you can purchase from your home and garden store anywhere between – on average)follow the directions for your test kit to discover the composition of your soil.

Step3

Since we can add nutrients to our soil for the basis of being food for the grass to grow, what we really want to know at this point is rather your soil is too acidic, or to alkaline. We will of course take note to other levels as far as nutrients go.(exp. If the levels of nitrogen is very high then of course when we go to fertilizing the lawn we do not want to use a fertilizer high in Nitrogen etc.)

Step4

Hydrated lime OK, lets adopt that your soil test indicated that your lawn is very acidic with levels around 5.5 or lower we want to change that to get our target level being around 6.5-6.8, 7 being neutral. To cure this we will apply Hydrated lime and work it into our soil as much as we can by raking into soil or even superior renting a aerator and forcing into the soil. When using lime remember Hydrated lime (burnt lime) will show the fastest results. Other forms will take longer to make change within your soil. Pellets can take weeks up to years. Don’t go there! Simply apply according to your reading on your soil test. If you were off by a tiny simply place an even thin coat. ( which is usually adequate). You can test levels again in about a week or so if you want to be cautious, however usually a nice even coat will do the job. Normally I would fertilize two weeks later after this treatment.

Step5

Sulfate compound OK, lets state that your soil test results indicated that your soil had high ph levels around 8.0.(Sweet Soil) A sign of this condition would be pale or chromatic like grass blades. This will mean that your soil is missing Iron or Manganese. To correct this problem we will add Iron and Sulfate. Note that you can get these applications from your local feed store if not at your local home and garden. Just remember one thing when you go to these places; sometimes they will attempt to sell or tell you something else. Remember this information, stick to it and follow the steps.

Step6

The four basics to a maintained lawn. Now that we have set the stage lets begin with our first step to our normal yearly routine to restore and maintain the health of our lawns. I have learned from experience that if you were to use Scotts products that you will get more than what you pay for. Trust me you will need to use more of the cheaper products more frequently than the use of Scotts product. You get what you pay for case. Well there are four treatments that you need to use yearly as the basics to having a good lawn. I will mention a few other applications that will be directed towards the conditions of you lawn based on things such as shade, fences, shrubs and building erections on or around your lawn.

Step7

First you would want to apply Scotts Turf Builder with Halts Crabgrass Preventer in primeval spring. Doing this will begin your lawn off on a good start. Secondly, during late spring you will apply Turf Builder With Plus 2 Weed control. This will continue to give you lawn the nutrients it needs and to subdue the weeds that are taking place this time of the year. Thirdly, you want to apply Turf Builder With SummerGaurd Insect Control in the summer time to wage nutrients, strengthen your lawn from drought, heat, and to protect against insects . Lastly you will apply Scotts Turf Builder Lawn Fertilizer in start to encourage continued growth and health during winter and staging it for the next upcoming year.

Step8
Now that you have a template to follow take notes on a few other things to consider. Your lawn is as healthy as the conditions you place around it or that nature provides. For an example, lawn disease can really work against your efforts of attempting to achieve a lush lawn. Note that disease is born when your lawn is too moist and the temperature is around 70 degrees. So if you notice that the day is an overcast day it would probably be a superior intent not to water on this day or not as much. Also air plays a role in the development of disease. If there is poor circulation either by wood or metal fences that constrict air flow it might be superior to use a cyclone fence, or if you like to use tall shrubs all along or around your lawn, they too could prevent the air flow. Air flow is important for a number of reasons like your lawn needing it to grow and to dry up moisture on it blades level since that is where disease actually takes place. Buildings on your property such as tool sheds etc. can create the same problem. Lastly you want to take note to trees or shrubs that are carrying disease on them, because if they are the wind and rain can cause them to manifest in your lawn. Look in the tips section to find the number one application I came crossways for this problem.

How to Find Great Landscape Pictures Online

Instructions

1

Since there are lots of very good photographers out there, there are lots of great landscape pictures also.  People love to take great pictures of beautiful nature scenes.  Many people post their wonderful landscape pictures on sites such as Flickr, which is owned by Yahoo!

2

Flickr is a great place to find beautiful landscape photos.  People upload them on Flickr so that they can easily share pictures with friends, and it saves them having to use space on a individualized hard drive.  Saving pictures on Flickr grants others to comment on your photography or use them to illustrate individualized pages or blogs.

3

One thing you must check before duplicating and reusing any pictures from Flickr is what permissions the author has granted.  Flickr uses a licensing hierarchy called Creative Commons.  Under Creative Commons, the owner of a work might retain all rights, or might share rights under certain conditions.  The first category is that you must link back to the owner of the photograph. That is called Attribution. Other categories are “No Commercial Use”, “No Derivatives”, meaning the work can’t be modified and republished, and “Share alike”. That means the author grants derivatives, but they must be shared just as the original is.  You can get more information on how this works here.

4

These categories don’t limit you to just a handful of landscape photos.  Under the Attribution link, there are currently 27 million pictures available.  Click “See More” and enter a search term such as Landscape in the search box.  That will return pages of images that you can search through for your project. If you want to make your search easier, choose Relevant, Recent, or Most Interesting which are hyperlinks above the photos. These sub-categories can save you time and give you superior results.

5

Remember the Creative Commons rules when you insert a landscape pic onto your site. Link the pic back to the author (use the URL for the pic on Creative Commons).  It is also a good intent to add a comment under the pic on Flickr telling the author where you used the photo.  If you really like the photo, Favorite it.

I hope this helps you find some great landscape pictures to enhance your work.
